History/Overview
The Volvo XC60 debuted in 2010 as the Swedish automaker’s introduction to the compact luxury crossover segment. It was redesigned into a second generation in 2018.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the second-gen XC60 sees its first significant update. Last year’s T5 and T6 powertrains have been replaced with new, 48-volt mild hybrid setups called B5 and B6. The infotainment system now runs on a Google operating system, and there are minor styling tweaks.
Available Trims
Volvo offers the 2022 XC60 in Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription trim levels. Momentum starts with the B5 powertrain; the more powerful B6 engine is optional in Momentum and standard in R-Design and Inscription. No matter how you spec your XC60, you get AWD and an eight-speed transmission.

Standard Features
Momentum trim includes dual-zone A/C, a 12-inch digital gauge display, auto-dimming mirrors, fog lights, power-folding side mirrors, 18-inch wheels, panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, passive keyless entry, hands-free tailgate, heated/power-adjustable front seats with two-way lumbar, and wireless phone charging.
XC60’s standard safety suite comprises rain-sensing wipers, blind spot monitoring, rear park assist, lane keeping aid, oncoming lane mitigation, and road sign recognition.
R-Design trim adds four-zone A/C, front park assist, 19-inch wheels, gloss black exterior trim, Nappa leather, power child safety locks, four-way front-seat lumbar, and a Harman Kardon stereo with subwoofer.
Inscription’s key additions are 20-inch wheels, aluminum exterior trim, and ventilated seats with power side bolsters.
Key Options
A climate package brings a heated steering wheel, headlight washers, and your choice of heated rear seats or integrated booster cushions.
In Momentum trim, a premium package adds front park assist, child safety locks, and power-folding rear headrests.
The advanced package adds a head-up display, adaptive cruise with stop-and-go, lane centering assist, 360-degree cameras, integrated garage remote, and a cargo area power outlet.
Fuel Economy
Volvo’s fuel consumption estimates for the XC60 are 10.5/8.1 L/100 km (city/highway) with the B5 powertrain, and 11.0/8.7 L/100 km for B6 models.
Competition
The Volvo XC60 faces off against the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, Acura RDX, Infiniti QX50, Cadillac XT5, Buick Envision, Lexus NX, Lincoln Corsair, Jaguar E-Pace, and Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
