Volvo really is working magic these days. It started with the XC90, the SUV that marked the beginning of the company’s styling renaissance under its new ownership. The S90 sedan, new for the 2017 model year, is second in line to join the new Volvo order. On certain vehicles, the Telematics and Driver Support Systems may not function as designed due to a software error. In the event of a crash, this could mean that the Emergency Assist system would not alert Volvo and provide the GPS coordinates of the vehicle. This could create a risk of no response from emergency services. Correction: Dealers will update vehicle software.

Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS) 226 - Ejection Mitigation. Due to a manufacturing error in the surface treatment process, the bolts that were used to assemble the inflatable curtain (IC) airbag may not meet specifications. This could result in one or more of the bolts breaking, which in the event of a crash warranting deployment of the IC airbag, could increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealers will replace the affected bolts.

On certain vehicles, the front passenger seatbelt buckle stud may not have been punched correctly during manufacturing. This may cause a separation between the buckle and the seat belt bracket, which could result in the belt not adequately restraining the seat occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the front passenger seat belt buckle stud, and replace the seatbelt buckle as necessary.

On certain vehicles, the air conditioner drain hose may leak into the passenger compartment due to incorrect installation during the manufacturing process. This could increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash and/or increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction : Dealers will inspect the air conditioning drain hose to ensure correct installation and if necessary replace the drain hose.
