Volvo's largest sedan, the S80 gets a long-awaited update for 2014, but the changes are limited to cosmetics, with new front and rear bumpers and more chrome details ?to give the car an elegant and upmarket feel,? says the Swedish manufacturer.
Nothing changes mechanically, so the S80 carries on with a 3.2L inline six in 3.2 models, making 240 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The step up is to the T6, which gets a turbocharged inline six good for 300 hp and 325 lb-ft. A six-speed automatic transmission comes with both engines, and T6 cars get standard all-wheel drive.
Both models are offered in base, Premier Plus and Platinum trims.
The S80 3.2 comes standard with Volvo's City Safety system, electric parking brake, rear fog lights, safe approach and home lighting, power locks with locking fuel door, keyless drive with personal car communicator, chrome trim accents and dual exhaust tips, fog lights, outside temperature gauge, heated side mirrors with LED turn signal repeaters, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive digital gauge cluster, auto-dimming rearview mirror, walnut wood inlays, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, four reading lights, front and rear 12-volt power outlets, heated front seats, lockable glove box, lighted vanity mirrors, leather-trimmed shifter and steering wheel, plush floor mats, eight-way power front seats with driver memory, power-folding rear headrests, split-folding rear seat with pass-through, tilt-and-telescopic steering, trip computer, Volvo Sensus with seven-inch colour display, eight-speaker stereo with auxiliary and USB inputs, Bluetooth, and leather seating.
Premier Plus trim adds a garage door opener, front and rear park assist, compass, grocery bag holder, quick-fold front passenger seat, and a backup camera.
Platinum trim brings accent lighting, premium 12-speaker stereo with 650-watt amplifier, and navigation.
T6 models get the turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive, but standard equipment otherwise differs little compared to 3.2 models.
