NEW FOR 2014:

-New Polestar tuning package

For 2014, Volvo's entry-level sedan gets a mild makeover inside and out, and adds an optional Polestar tuning package that bumps output from the T6's turbocharged 3.0L six-cylinder to 325 hp and 355 lb-ft of torque, up from 300 hp and 325 lb-ft in the regular T6. Lesser T5 models use a turbocharged five-cylinder that makes 250 hp and 266 lb-ft. T5 models come with FWD as standard, and AWD as an option; all T6 cars get four-wheel traction. Both T5 and T6 share a six-speed automatic transmission.

T5 trim levels include a base model, Premier, Premier Plus and Platinum; T6 is available in base, Premium Plus and Platinum, and T6 R-Design (where you'll find the Polestar-tuned engine) comes in base and Platinum configurations.

T5 models come with Volvo's City Safety system, electric parking brake, intelligent driver information system, safe-approach and home lighting, anti-theft system, whiplash protection seating, power locks with keyless entry and locking fuel door, dual polished exhausts, outside temperature gauge, heated side mirrors, puddle lights, rain-sensing wipers, touring suspension, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, centre console storage, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, front centre armrest and cupholders, illuminated and lockable glovebox, leather-trimmed shifter and steering wheel, eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar and memory, heated front seats, power-folding rear head restraints, power windows with front auto up/down, 60/40 split folding rear seat, trunk pass-through, rear armrest with cupholders and storage, “shimmer” graphite aluminum inlays, tilt-and-telescopic steering, floor mats, trip computer, Volvo Sensus with seven-inch colour display, eight-speaker stereo with auxiliary and USB inputs, Bluetooth with streaming audio, and satellite radio.

T5 Premier trim adds keyless drive with personal car communicator, bright side window trim, power sunroof, adaptive TFT gauge display, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and an eight-way power front passenger seat.

T5 Premier Plus includes a garage door opener, backup camera, compass (in rearview mirror), grocery bag holder, and a folding front passenger seat.

T5 Platinum trim gets auto-dimming and power-folding side mirrors, accent lighting, 12-speaker stereo, and navigation with voice control, real-time traffic and two free map updates.

T6 AWD builds on less T5s, and adds the six-cylinder engine and AWD, dynamic chassis control, front sport seats, paddle shifters, and speed-sensitive steering with driver-selectable settings.

T6 AWD Premier Plus builds on T5 Premier Plus trim.

Likewise, T6 AWD Platinum trim is packaged similarly to T5 Platinum.

R-Design models get an upgraded TFT cluster with R-Design graphics, unique exterior trim, front sport seats, steering wheel, and interior trim, rear spoiler, and sport chassis tuning.
