NEW FOR 2008:
- Emergency brake assist standard on all models
- Sport package receives new 17-inch wheel design
- R model discontinued
Having received a facelift in 2007, the S60 is carried over into 2008, except for a minor change to its Sport option package, and the addition of emergency brake assist to the 2.5T, making it standard on all models. Pricing is unchanged from the MSRP levels of 2007.
The S60 is available as the 2.5T and 2.5T AWD, with 2.5-litre turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine and five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode, and as the T5, with 2.4-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine and six-speed manual transmission or optional five-speed automatic.
Features on the 2.5T include 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated mirrors, keyless entry, headlamp washers, heated cloth seats, tilt and telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, mechanical height-adjustable front seats, cruise control, front and rear reading lamps, express up/down front windows, rear fog lamp, outside temperature gauge, trip computer, intermittent wipers, and CD stereo.
The 2.5T AWD adds power sunroof and power driver seat with memory.
The T5 adds 17-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, leather and T-Tec cloth split upholstery, aluminum interior inlays, power passenger seat, auto-dimming rear-view mirror with compass, garage door opener, and six-CD stereo.
Featuring superb handling and decent road manners, the S60 is well-sized and with a comfortable and attractive interior. The ride is firm and interior space is a bit tighter than many competitors, but slotted in between the smaller S40 and the more expensive S80, the S60 should be "just right" for those who want the quintessential Volvo.
