This was my wife's car but a 2.5 years years ago I bought her an Acura MDX Elite and my son has now taken over the Rabbit. May 2021 and the car now has 247,000 km on it. Within the last 6 months I have replaced the oil pan gasket as there was a slight oil leak that was dropping oil on my driveway. I did this job myself using a $29 gasket from Rock Auto that came with its own tube for silicone sealant. The repair was successful and now no oil leaks any more. The car in general really does not use any oil between changes that I do every 10K. In the last couple of months though as the mileage hit 245K the gearbox started misbehaving and I had a new valve body put in it. The valve bodies on the 09G gearbox that these cars are fitted with typically start to go at around this mileage and ours was no exception. The new valve body has fixed the previous issues. About a week after the valve body was replace the alternator failed so ordered a remanufactured Bosch Alternator from Rock Auto. Installed it myself which was a bit of a game and I replaced all the pulleys and belts at the same time. Just fitted a new set of tires and the car should be good for another 100K although its really at a stage where the suspension components could do with being replaced . . . so may be ordering kits from FCP Euro in the not too distant future. The car still drives really well - super smooth and quiet. Really we did not go wrong when we bought this 11 year ago now. The car swill be 15 years old in July (doesn't look it). We also benefitted from the 12 year original corrosion warranty and both front fenders and the trunk were replaced under this warranty. It looks great for a 15 year old car. The engine in these cars is rock solid provide the oil is changed every 10K.
