While 2014 saw the introduction of a new 1.8L TSI engine, this year is the first without the availability of the 2.5L five-cylinder engine, trimming the Beetle's engine lineup down to three options. The Highline model has also been dropped with a new base trim Trendline model introduced.
Added to the list of packages is the GSR Limited Edition package that includes 19-inch alloy wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, sport seats in black with yellow stitching, exterior mirrors in black, dashboard in R-line design, front and rear "R" design bumpers, panoramic power sunroof, and Limited Edition serialized number plate (numbered out of 3500 units).
The Beetle is also available as a convertible, covered in a separate entry.
The Beetle Coupe is available with three different engines and four possible transmission options:
- 1.8 TSI turbocharged gas 4-cylinder engine producing 170 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque mated to either a 5-speed manual to 6-speed automatic with Tiptronic, only available in Trendline or Comfortline trims.
- 2.0L TDI clean diesel 4-cylinder engine producing 150 hp and 236 lb-ft mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic DSG with Tiptronic, only available in Comfortline trim.
- 2.0 TSI turbocharged gas 4-cylinder engine producing 210 hp and 207 lb-ft mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DSG automatic, only available in Sportline trim.
Features on the Trendline include 16" Propeller steel wheels, 6-way manually adjustable front seats, 50/50 split-folding rear seats, Bluetooth mobile phone, airbags (front, front seat, side curtain), electronic stability control, electronic differential lock, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, hill hold assist, illuminated vanity mirrors, manual climate control, multilink rear suspension, power heated exterior mirrors with LED turn signals, power locks, power windows, 8-speaker AM/FM/CD radio, and trip computer.
Convenience Package adds cruise control, heated front seats, heated washer nozzles, and MDI with iPod connectivity.
Comfortline trim adds (to Trendline) 17" Rotor alloy wheels, 8-way manually adjustable front comfort seats including manual lumbar support, alarm system, ambient interior lighting, automatic headlights with ?coming home? feature, chrome ring around cluster/radio/navigation system/air vents, chrome tips on window switches, cruise control, dashboard colour-coded to exterior paint with additional glove box, door panels in leatherette, exterior chrome package, front fog lights, heated front seats, heated washer nozzles, auto-dimming rearview mirror, KESSY keyless access with push-button start, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel/shift knob/handbrake lever, MDI with iPod connectivity, leatherette seating surfaces, multifunction trip computer, panaroma tilt/sliding sunroof, Premium 8 radio (includes 6-disc CD changer, touch screen and 8 speakers), rain-sensing wipers, and satellite radio.
Technology Package adds blind spot detection, Fender Premium Audio System (400-watt digital sound package, 8 speakers plus subwoofer), and RNS 315 navigation system (single CD player, satellite navigation system, touch screen).
Appearance Package bi-xenon headlights with LED signature daytime running lights (DRL), Climatronic dual-zone electronic climate control, LED rear licence plate illumination, sport seats, and Vienna leather seats (Titan Black or Nutria Beige).
Sportline adds (to Comfortline) 18" Twister alloy wheels, alloy sport pedals, Climatronic dual-zone electronic climate control, dashboard in carbon fibre look, dashboard-mounted auxiliary gauges, dual exhaust, exterior mirrors in black, front grille with fog light trim/window trim/running boards in black, leather seating surfaces, paddle shifters (with DSG transmission), rear spoiler, red brake calipers, sound generator, and sport suspension.
