2014 Toyota Tundra

Toyota’s full-size Tundra rolls into 2014 with a brand new look and a host of changes as a part of a mid-cycle refresh. Chiseled lines and a raised hood increase its presence. Much can be said about the tail, which features a new tailgate and a restyled bumper. Also included are new wheel and grille designs. Inside, Toyota has updated the Tundra with a new dashboard design that includes standard display audio systems on all trims, not to mention Bluetooth and a reverse camera. Mild tweaks to the suspension aim to improve comfort.

Toyota has also upped the ante on the Tundra’s luxury quotient. Two new trims are available, both aimed directly at deep-pocketed buyers. The Platinum offers such luxuries as a power tilt and telescoping steering column, wood-rim steering wheel, and heated and ventilated front seats with under-thigh support. An homage to the ranch where the Tundra’s San Antonio factory was built, the 1794 Edition package offers up saddle-coloured leather with suede inserts, available Sunset Bronze paint, and plenty of chrome exterior trim.

The Tundra is available in Regular Cab, Double Cab, or CrewMax configuration. Bed lengths are standard (6-foot-7), long (8-foot-1) and short (5-foot-6). A 4.6-litre V8 is available exclusively in the base Double Cab configuration, while a 5.7-litre V8 comes standard on all other models. Both engines use a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Regular Cab SR5 package adds power windows with driver side auto-down, keyless entry, chrome front and rear bumper trim, chrome grille surround, variable intermittent wipers, carpets, floor mats, silver-accented instrument panel, chrome vent trim, cruise control, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, foot well lamps, sliding rear window with privacy glass and power door locks.

The Regular Cab SR5 Plus Package adds bed rail system, tie-down cleats, tilt and telescoping steering column, fog lamps, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The Double Cab Standard Bed 4.6L features 6.5-foot bed, 4.6L V8 engine, and builds on the Regular Cab model with six speakers, rear seat heater ducts, power door locks, cruise control, front and rear cup holders, 60/40 split rear bench with fold-up seat cushion, rear-door child locks. Deletes heavy-duty tow package.

Double Cab Standard Bed 5.7L features the above equipment, but adds 5.7L V8 engine and heavy-duty tow package.

Double Cab Long Bed 5.7L features the above equipment, but adds an 8.0-foot bed.

The Double Cab SR5 package adds power windows with driver side auto-down, keyless entry, chrome front and rear bumper trim, chrome grille surround, variable intermittent wipers, carpets, floor mats, silver-accented instrument panel, chrome vent trim, cruise control, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, foot well lamps, sliding rear window with privacy glass and rear seat storage tray.

The Double Cab SR5 Plus Package adds bed rail system, tie-down cleats, console-mounted shifter, power eight-way adjustable bucket seats, tilt and telescoping steering column, front console box, fog lamps, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The Double Cab TRD Off-Road Package builds on the SR5 Plus Package and adds Bilstein shock absorbers, power sliding rear window, unique 18-inch wheels, TRD decals, auto-leveling headlamps, anti-theft system, front and rear parking sensors, skid plates, Bongiovi Acoustics Digital Power Station, auto-dimming rear-view mirror with digital compass, and garage door opener. It is not available with the Long Bed configuration.

The Double Cab Limited 5.7L builds on the Double Cab Standard Bed 5.7L and adds seven-speaker 7.0-inch display audio system with AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio, satellite radio, advanced voice recognition, dual-zone automatic climate control, power windows with front auto up/down, power sliding rear window, auto-dimming rear-view mirror with digital compass, garage door opener, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, tilt and telescoping steering column, carpets, floor mats, front console storage box, keyless entry, leather upholstery, woodgrain dash trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power eight-way driver’s seat, heated front seats, rear window privacy glass, chrome bumper caps, chrome grille, chrome mirrors, intermittent wipers, automatic headlamps, adjustable headlamp leveling system, fog lights, bed rail system, alarm, and front and rear parking sensors.
