History/Overview
The Tacoma is Toyota's entry-level pickup model, a mid-size trunk that slots below the larger Tundra. Tacoma builds on Toyota's long history of small pickups and off-roaders.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
Tacoma's 2020 updates are all technology-based. The Toyota Safety Sense P suite of active safety features is standard across the range; the infotainment system now supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone platforms; and multi terrain view and bird's-eye view camera systems are new options.
Available Trims
The Tacoma comes in SR, SR5, TRD Off Road, TRD Sport, TRD Pro, and Limited trims. Entry-level trims can be had in an Access Cab configuration, or a larger Double Cab with four proper doors. All are powered by a 3.5L V6 engine and standard 4WD. Buyers have a choice between six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
Standard Features
SR trim comes fitted with power door locks, a six-speaker stereo with a 6.1-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, manual seat adjustments with cloth upholstery, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, air conditioning, heated/power-adjustable side mirrors, auto on/off headlights, and 16-inch steel wheels.
The Toyota Safety Sense P suite comprises automatic high beams, forward collision warning with automatic braking, radar cruise control, and lane departure alert.
SR5 models add a locking rear differential, a 120-volt power outlet in the cargo bed, remote engine start, navigation, satellite radio, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, a power driver's seat, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift lever, lighted sun visors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, LED daytime running lights, fog lights, and 16-inch alloy wheels. SR5 Double Cab also gets blind spot monitoring
TRD Off Road brings passive keyless entry, tire pressure monitoring, upgraded seat fabric, crawl control and multi terrain select, all-terrain tires, and upgraded shocks.
TRD Sport trim gets 17-inch wheels, colour-keyed exterior trim, sport-tuned suspension, a hood scoop, and sport fabric seating.
Sport Premium's additions are leather seating, a sunroof, wireless smartphone charging, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert.
Limited models get a JBL stereo, a trim-specific body kit, 18-inch wheels, LED headlights and fog lights, a bird's-eye view camera system, and intelligent clearance sonar.
Finally, TRD Pro is an off-road specialist with underbody skid plates, leather seating, a special grille design, and Fox remote reservoir shocks.
Key Options
TRD Sport offers a premium package that adds leather, a sunroof, wireless charging, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert.
A TRD Off Road premium pack is similar, but also adds the multi terrain view monitor.
