Toyota redesigned the Sienna minivan into its fourth generation last year, making it the auto industry’s first-ever minivan with conventional (non-plug-in) hybrid power, and the segment’s second hybrid after the Chrysler Pacifica PHEV.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the Sienna gets a handful of minor updates: LE and XLE models get roof rails, and the Limited AWD configuration gains second-row Ottoman seats.
Available Trims
Toyota offers the Sienna in LE, XLE, XSE, and Limited trims. All are powered by a gas-electric drivetrain based on a 2.5L gas engine and a continuously variable transmission; LE, XSE can be optioned with AWD, while Limited comes standard with it.
Standard Features
Sienna LE models come with second-row side sunshades, power-sliding side doors, six-speaker audio, a 9.0-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, a power driver’s seat, a heated steering wheel, three-zone A/C, 17-inch alloy wheels, a front wiper de-icer, and LED headlights.
The basic safety package includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision mitigation, lane departure alert, radar cruise control, and automatic high beams.
XLE adds passive keyless entry, hands-free sliding doors and tailgate, eight-speaker audio, a power passenger seat, softex upholstery, four-zone A/C, an auto-dimming mirror, and a sunroof.
XSE gains a garage door remote, navigation, sport-tuned suspension, second-row captains’ chairs, and 20-inch wheels.
Finally, Limited adds parking sensors with rear cross-traffic braking, bird’s-eye view cameras, wireless phone charging, third-row sunshades, a 120-volt power outlet, second-row Ottoman seats, 12-speaker audio, and rear-seat entertainment.
Key Options
XSE trim offers a tech package of LED fog lights, 12-speaker stereo, digital rearview mirror, rear-seat entertainment, and a 120-volt power outlet.
Fuel Economy
Toyota’s fuel consumption estimates for the Sienna are 6.6/6.5 L/100 km (city/highway) with FWD, and 6.8/6.6 L/100 km with AWD.
Competition
The Toyota Sienna competes for minivan buyers with the Honda Odyssey, Kia Carnival, Chrysler Grand Caravan, and Chrysler Pacifica, but its most direct competitor is the Chrysler Pacifica PHEV.
