NEW FOR 2016:
- No changes.
Following last year update, the Prius v carries into 2016 without any changes.
The largest member of the Prius family, the v offers buyers a more practical take on the iconic Prius. The tall wagon bodystyle offers limo-like rear legroom thanks to a standard sliding and reclining rear seat, while a wide cargo bay easily accommodates bulky luggage. Fold the rear seats down, and there’s upwards of 1,900 litres of space – larger than most compact crossovers, and considerably larger than its closest rival, the Ford C-Max. While there’s plenty of headroom, tall drivers may find the driving position awkward due to a telescoping steering column that does not extend particularly far.
While the 2016 Prius is completely new with an updated powertrain, the v carries on with the same 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine and Hybrid Synergy Drive setup. Overall fuel economy is, as you’d expect, excellent. Though the Prius v offers four different driving modes including EV-only and a performance-optimizing Power mode, performance from the 134-hp motor is sluggish. Light steering makes for an easy drive, though, and a standard reverse camera makes it easy to park.
The Prius v is offered in one trim with two option packages.
