CHANGES FOR 2013:
- No changes.
This compact hatch is the least expensive hybrid in Canada, and its urban-friendly dimensions make it well suited to inner-city work. Despite being considerably lighter and having a smaller and less powerful hybrid drivetrain than its bigger-brother Prius, fuel economy is pretty much the same ? which is to say very good. Like the other Prius family members, the ?c? is all about eking the most out of every litre of fuel, so other considerations such as steering feel, handling, NVH suppression, and meaningful acceleration are way off the radar. Yet, Prius people are a loyal lot, and this smallest version will surely appeal.
The Prius c uses a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, combined with the Hybrid Synergy Drive hybrid system, nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery, and continuously variable transmission (CVT).
In addition to Normal Mode, the Prius c can also be programmed into EV Mode, allowing battery-only driving at low speeds in certain conditions; and Eco Mode, which helps the driver achieve better fuel economy.
The Prius c comes in two different trims - base and Technology - each with their own available upgrade package.
Standard features include 15-inch steel wheels, four-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio with auxiliary and USB input, Bluetooth capability, air conditioning, power locks, power windows with driver auto-up/down, rear spoiler, power heated mirrors, body colour door handles and mirrors, LED taillights, outside temperature gauge, multi-information display with ECO drive monitor, tilt/telescopic steering wheel with audio and climate controls, all-season and carpeted floor mats, keyless entry, and airbags (front, front seat, side curtain, driver's knee).
