CHANGES FOR 2013:
- Upgraded eight-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio with auxiliary/USB inputs and satellite radio.
- Standard steering wheel mounted audio controls.
- Standard Bluetooth capability.
- Electronic switch for 2WD/4WD (except for Trail Edition).
Mechanically, the only change to the 4Runner for 2013 is the addition of electronic 4WD selection in all models except the Trail Edition trim. All models get a new eight-speaker stereo, and the option packages have been tweaked here and there. Option packages up the 4Runner's already significant off-road cred, especially that Trail Edition model, which gets crawl control and what Toyota calls Kinetic Dynamic Suspension. Like the FJ Cruiser, this truck delivers a surprisingly nice ride on city streets.
Every 4Runner is powered by a 4.0L V6 producing 270 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque sent through a five-speed automatic transmission. All models are also equipped with four-wheel drive with on-the-fly shifting between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
Standard features on the SR5 include 17-inch wheels, eight-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio with USB and auxiliary input, satellite radio, party mode switch, steering wheel audio controls, Bluetooth capability, climate control, cloth seating, 8-way power driver's seat with lumbar, 4-way power front passenger seat, 40/20/40 split-fold rear seats, power windows with auto up/down, power locks, digital compass, outside temperature gauge, fuel economy meter, ECO drive monitor with multi-information display, trip computer, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, integrated garage door opener, floor mats, cruise control, map lights, keyless entry with rear door release, rear privacy glass, dual heated power adjustable foldable mirrors, silver painted roof rails, body-colour door handles and mirrors, rear spoiler, splash gauges, heavy duty tow hitch receiver, matte black fender flares, running boards, variable intermittent wipers, auto headlamp cancel function, fog lights, rear clearance sonar, reflector style halogen headlights, airbags (front, driver/front passenger knee, side curtain), and TPMS.
