NEW FOR 2009:
- Base and Premier Package trim lines add splash guards
- Limited adds third-row seating, rear cooling unit, touch-screen monitor system, DVD entertainment system, rear vision camera and splash guards
Having undergone a major facelift in 2008, the Tribeca returns for 2009 with only changes to its equipment list. The Limited receives the bulk of these: previously available as a five-seater, it now contains the third row of seats that was strictly on the Premier Package before, moving it up to a seven-passenger vehicle. It also receives a rear-seat DVD system with touch-screen monitor system and backup camera, and a cooling system for rear-seat passengers.
The Tribeca uses a 3.6-litre horizontally-opposed six-cylinder engine, mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. All models are all-wheel drive.
The base Tribeca seats five passengers and includes 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input and wheel-mounted audio controls, garage door opener, sub-floor storage tray, cruise control, tilt wheel, power windows with auto driver's down, heated mirrors, cloth seats with eight-way driver and four-way passenger power adjustment, fog lights, auto-off Xenon headlamps, power sunroof, roof rails, roofline spoiler, splash guards, privacy glass, windshield de-icer, variable intermittent wipers, intermittent rear washer/wiper, electroluminescent gauges, anti-theft system and tire pressure monitoring system.
The Limited seats seven passengers and adds premium audio system, colour monitor, rear-seat DVD system with wireless headphones and remote control, rear cooling unit, leather seat inserts, and two-position driver's side memory.
The Premier Package adds DVD-based navigation system and XM satellite radio.
The Tribeca is beautifully finished inside and out, although the seats are hard. Second-row passengers have plenty of space, but the third row is cramped and suitable mostly for children; for those who do need three rows of seats, though, the availability in a lower-priced trim line will be welcome. Prices on all three models drop from 2008 MSRP levels.
