Subaru gives its Impreza compact a “significant” refresh for 2015, an update that includes a standard partial-zero emissions vehicle (PZEV) engine, EyeSight active safety system availability and updated communications and entertainment technology.
The new engine remains a 2.0L “boxer” four-cylinder, rated at 148 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. Likewise, transmission choices are the same: a five-speed manual is standard, and the option is a continuously variable (CVT) automatic.
Trim levels include 2.0i, 2.0i Touring, 2.0i Sport, 2.0i Sport w/technology package, 2.0i Limited, and 2.0i Limited with technology package. All trims are available in four-door sedan and five-door hatchback bodystyles.
Standard equipment includes an auxiliary input, Bluetooth, Starlink smartphone integration, MediaHub, iPod control, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, satellite radio, four-speaker stereo, four-wheel disc brakes, air conditioning, rear-seat ventilation ducts, cruise control, 12-volt power outlet, tilt-and-telescopic steering, power windows with driver auto up/down, PZEV badging, power heated side mirrors with body-colour housings, auto-off headlights, 15-inch steel wheels with covers, driver information display, backup camera, keyless entry, six-way manual driver's seat, four-way manual front passenger seat, and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat.
Touring trim adds a six-speaker stereo, rear stabilizer bar, welcome lighting, automatic headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, front wiper de-icer, chrome interior door handles, heated front seats, and rear centre armrest with cupholders.
Sport trim includes a sliding front armrest/console cover, automatic climate control, foglights, stainless steel exhaust finisher, sunroof, side ground effects, 17-inch wheels, 3.5-inch colour in-cluster display, 4.3-inch colour multi-function display, intelligent keyless entry, leather-trimmed shifter and steering wheel, and aluminum pedals. Here, the technology package adds EyeSight, with pre-collision braking, brake assist and throttle management, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane sway warning and lead vehicle start alert.
Limited models get navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, illuminated ignition key ring, chrome door handles, side mirrors with turn signal repeaters, HID headlights, chrome trunk trim, and leather seats and door trim. The technology option adds Subaru's EyeSight, as detailed above.
