CHANGES FOR 2014:
-Deep Sea Blue Pearl and Quartz Blue Pearl paint colours added; Deep Cherry Pearl and Marine Blue Pearl colours discontinued
Subaru's compact sedan and hatchback move into 2014 unchanged save for new paint options.
Mechanically, the Impreza continues to use a 2.0L boxer four-cylinder engine producing 148 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. It can be mated to either a five-speed manual transmission, or a continuously variable automatic, and Subaru's “symmetrical” all-wheel drive system is standard across the line.
Trims include 2.0i, 2.0i Touring, 2.0i Sport and 2.0i Limited, all of which are available with either transmission, and in either sedan or hatch bodystyles.
The base car comes with Subaru's Hill Holder anti-rollback system, front stabilizer bar, stability and traction control, four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist and brake override, seven airbags, including driver's knee blocker, hexagonal grille with black surround and painted wing insert, whiplash-reducing front seats with height- and tilt-adjustable headrests, engine immobilizer and anti-theft system, 15-inch steel wheels with covers, power-adjustable/manually folding heated side mirrors with body-coloured housings, body-colour door handles, four-speaker stereo with MediaHub iPod/USB integration, Bluetooth, air conditioning, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with integrated cruise controls, 60/40 split folding rear seats and black cloth upholstery.
Hatchback models get a rear roofline spoiler with centre brake light.
Moving up to the Touring package adds 16-inch alloy wheels, six-speaker stereo, illuminated glove box and ignition switch, windshield wiper de-icer, rear stabilizer bar, rear-seat centre armrest, automatic headlights, painted grille surround and chrome wing insert, cloth door trim, heated front seats and chrome interior door handles.
Hatchback models add a retractable cargo area cover, and CVT-equipped cars get steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
Sport trim gets 17-inch wheels, aerodynamic body-colour side ground effects, stainless steel exhaust tip, sunroof, multi-reflector fog lights, leather-wrapped shifter and steering wheel, automatic climate control, sport gauges, 4.3-inch multi-function display with steering wheel-mounted controls, and a sliding centre front armrest.
Sedan models get a stainless steel exhaust tip and low-profile rear spoiler with centre brake light; hatchback models get the retractable cargo cover and a large roofline spoiler with brake light; and CVT-equipped cars get paddle shifters.
Limited trim adds HID low-beam headlights, door mirrors with integrated LED turn signal repeaters, voice-activated navigation with 6.1-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth with text message capability, auxiliary input and Bluetooth streaming audio, backup camera, leather seats with silver stitching, and leather door trim.
And again, Sedan models get a stainless steel exhaust tip; hatchback models get the retractable cargo cover, and CVT-equipped cars get paddle shifters.
