CHANGES FOR 2014:
-Redesigned model
For 2014, Subaru has redesigned the Forester crossover into its fourth generation. While the redesign isn't dramatic on the outside, it brings some important technical updates. Base models retain the 2.5L boxer four-cylinder engine from the previous generation, making the same 170 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque, but it is paired with two new transmissions: a six-speed manual replaces last year's five-speed, and a continuously variable (CVT) automatic takes the place of the old model's four-speed automatic. Turbocharged XT models get a new 2.0L engine that makes more power (250 hp and 258 lb-ft) than last year's turbo 2.5L; the XT uses the CVT automatic exclusively. New tech includes the EyeSight driver assist system that controls adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking and lane departure warning; it's an option in Limited models with either engine.
Trims include 2.5i (manual or automatic), 2.5i Convenience (automatic), 2.5i Convenience PZEV (automatic), 2.5i Touring (manual or automatic), 2.5i Limited (automatic), 2.0XT Touring (automatic), 2.0XT Limited (automatic).
