NEW FOR 2015:
- No changes.
Scion’s iQ might not be the smallest vehicle on sale in Canada, but it’s difficult to argue against its cleverness. Although it’s a hair over three metres long, Toyota’s engineers have figured out a way to fit four humans inside of it. The turning circle is equally as impressive – it’s smaller than its arch-nemesis, the Smart ForTwo. Somewhat less clever is the price: $17,260. That makes it more expensive than the Toyota Yaris or the Corolla. We suspect that this is the iQ’s final year on sale in Canada.
The iQ uses a 1.3-litre four-cylinder engine mated exclusively to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) jammed between the front bumper and the cabin in what is nothing short of a packaging miracle. In case you were wondering how four people can fit inside of the iQ, its front passenger seat can be slid ahead of the driver’s seat for more legroom on the rear passenger side.
Like all Scions, the iQ comes in “monospec” with a variety of accessories.
Standard features include 16-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, display audio CD/MP3/WMA stereo with USB and auxiliary jack, Bluetooth connectivity, manually-adjustable cloth front seats, 50/50 split-folding rear seats, power locks with keyless entry, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, intermittent wipers, rear washer/wiper, outside temperature gauge, trip computer, dual vanity mirrors, auto up/down windows, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, tilt steering column, map lights, floor mats, digital clock, 12-volt power outlet, and illuminated entry.
Available accessories include premium audio, fog lights, alloy wheels, lowering springs, rear sway bar, cargo net, cargo mat, hood deflector and satellite radio.
