NEW FOR 2014:
- New interior door and console pads for added comfort
- Monogram Series
Scion’s FR-S was a shot straight out of left field. Joint-developed with Subaru and built by Subaru, it’s the first rear-wheel drive Scion, the only model in the brand to feature rear-wheel drive, and it has genuine street cred with tuners, gearheads and automobile aficionados alike. And, it's a real hoot to drive thanks to its perfectly balanced chassis and low-grip tires.
After racking up countless awards and cleaning up at drift championships around the globe, the FR-S returns for 2014 with addition of a pair of padded knee cushions that can be found on the door panels and on the sides of the centre console. These should make bracing oneself during drifting slightly more comfortable ... There’s also the new Monogram series, which adds a few styling and luxury touches to the otherwise basic coupe.
The Scion FR-S is powered by a 2.0-litre horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine featuring both port and direct fuel injection; it develops 200 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. It’s available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic with paddles and automatic rev-matching for downshifts.
FR-S features eight-speaker 6.1-inch touchscreen display audio, USB port, Bluetooth, power locks, keyless entry, power windows, cruise control, tilt and telescoping steering column, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, aluminum pedals, 12-volt power outlet, 17-inch alloy wheels, power adjustable heated mirrors, and tire pressure monitoring.
The Monogram Series adds unique rear spoiler, HID headlamps with LED daytime running lights, heated leather seats with suede inserts, dual-zone climate control, frameless rearview mirror, rear centre arm rest, cargo mat, alarm, and proximity key with push-button start. The Monogram Series is offered in Whiteout (white), Raven (black), and Firestorm (red).
