For 2009, the Saturn Sky is unchanged, save for its trim: updated OnStar and Bluetooth have been added, and there are two limited-edition promotional colours, Ruby Red and Hydro Blue.
A sister vehicle to the Pontiac Solstice, the Sky uses a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine in the base model, and a direct-injection turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder in the Red Line. Both use a five-speed manual transmission or optional five-speed automatic. Both models are two-seater roadsters.
Features on the base Sky include 18-inch painted alloy wheels, air conditioning, cloth top, glass rear window with electric defogger, fog lamps, power mirrors, speed-sensitive variable intermittent wipers, cruise control, power locks with keyless entry, driver information centre, floor mats, leather-wrapped tilt wheel with audio controls, power windows, cloth seats, power driver's height adjustment, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input, limited-slip differential, automatic headlamps, and OnStar.
The Red Line adds 18-inch polished alloy wheels, unique front and rear fascias, metallic finish sport pedals, leather upholstery, sport suspension, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, Monsoon audio system, and XM satellite radio.
While more boulevard cruiser than sports car, the Sky still feels like a smaller vehicle, with nimble steering and stiff chassis. Enthusiasts will prefer the Red Line's turbocharged powerplant. Working against the Sky, though, is a time-consuming top that requires trips in and out of the vehicle to put it up or down, and almost no storage space, thanks to the placement of the fuel tank, which reduces trunk space to just a small trench around the perimeter.
