On certain vehicles equipped with air conditioning (A/C), the engine cooling fan could potentially stall or seize. This could cause the cooling fan circuit to overheat. In some cases, this may cause the Check Engine and/or the Engine Temperature Malfunction Indicator Lights to turn on.
Safety Risk:
A cooling fan circuit that overheats could increase the risk of a fire.
Corrective Actions:
The company will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are still being finalized.
On certain wheelchair-accessible vehicles, the bolts used to attach the removable seats to the floor may contain a defect and could break in the event of a crash, creating a risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the defective bolts.
Certain vehicles may have been built with a defective powertrain controller. If the powertrain controller fails while driving the engine may stall, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the powertrain controller.
On certain vehicles equipped with the Roadside Emergency Kit containing a Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the suspect Kidde fire extinguisher with a new Kidde fire extinguisher with a steel nozzle. For more information about recalled fire extinguishers, please visit www.kidde.com.
On certain vehicles equipped with front door impact pressure sensors, the fasteners used to hold the front door impact pressure sensors may cause the sensor housing to fracture. If this occurs, it could affect the deployment of the side airbags in the event of a crash, which would increase the risk of injury to the front seat occupants. Correction: Dealers will replace both front door impact pressure sensors and use the correct fasteners.
Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. The sunvisor airbag warning label, User Guides and Owner’s Information DVDs incorrectly identify the vehicle’s passenger and driver frontal airbag systems as “Advanced Airbags”. In the event that occupants rely on the Owner’s Information or User Guide, they may position themselves closer to the airbag than they would if compliant information regarding the airbag system had been provided, which may increase the risk of injury to a front seat occupant in a crash where frontal airbag deployment is warranted. Correction: FCA Canada will provide vehicle owners with a supplement to the Owner’s Information DVD and User Guide to reflect the use of non-advanced airbags. Additionally, FCA Canada will also provide a replacement sunvisor airbag warning label to identify airbags as non-advanced.
On certain vehicles, a defect may cause the transmission pump rotor to seize or break, resulting in a loss of transmission pressure. This could result in a loss of motive power which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions may increase the risk of a crash causing injury. Correction: dealers will replace the transmission pump assembly.

A safety defect may exist in some aftermarket Trailer Tow Light Control Modules supplied by Mopar as a service replacement part. The trailer tow lighting control module may contain a software error that may result in inoperative trailer brake lights after the first actuation of the brakes. Towing a trailer with inoperative brake lights may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: FCA Canada will notify owners who may have a suspect Trailer Tow Kit, and replace the Trailer Tow Light Control Module if required.
Certain vehicles equipped with a trailer tow lighting control module may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The trailer tow lighting control module may contain a software error that may result in inoperative trailer brake lights after the first actuation of the brakes, which is contrary to the standard. Towing a trailer with inoperative brake lights may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the Trailer Tow Light Control Module.
On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine, the electrical (CAN-C) communication connector located on the floor in front of the driver's seat could become corroded. If this were to occur, it could result in a loss of communication to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) potentially resulting in a default shift to neutral, a loss of motive power and a no start condition, which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will relocate the CAN-C bus communication connector to under the instrument panel. Connectors exhibiting signs of corrosion will be replaced.
On certain vehicles equipped with a 3.0L diesel engine, hydraulic brake boost compensation and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module may have been programmed incorrectly. If the driver commands the ESC to be off, and then cycles the ignition key off and back on within 10 seconds, the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module may not reset the ESC system back to active status. If the system is not active, the vehicle may be inadvertently driven without the ESC system activated, which may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the ABS module. Note: Should this occur, the driver would be alerted that the ESC system is not active by the "ESC OFF" warning light illuminating.
Certain vehicles may experience an intermittent loss of electrical contact in the ignition switch electrical contact block. This may result in loss of motive power and/or partial or complete loss of function of the following safety systems; Airbag/supplemental restraint systems (SRS), Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Instrument Panel Cluster. The loss of motive power, ABS and/or ESC system(s), in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. The loss of airbag/SRS function in a crash that warrants airbag/SRS function may increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealers will replace the ignition switch contact holder block.
On certain vehicles, the tape used to stow the airbag curtain at the A pillar position could negatively affect the deployment of the side impact curtain airbag, which could increase the risk of injury in a side impact and/or rollover event. Correction: Dealers will remove the tape on the side airbag inflated curtain.
Certain vehicles may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 202 - Head Restraints. The head restraint backset may exceed the maximum measurement limit of 55cm specified in the standard. In the event of a crash, this could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the head restraints.
On some vehicles, water ingress around the in-floor battery cover and door footwell trim could cause electrical circuit corrosion, potentially causing the engine to stall resulting in a loss of motive power and could also disable the airbags, turn signals, parking, stop and/or reverse lamps. These issues could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will apply sealer, relocate electrical components and apply dielectric grease as necessary.
On certain vehicles, brake hoses may have been damaged during vehicle assembly and could leak, causing reduced braking capability, increased stopping distances and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace brake hoses as necessary.
On certain vehicles, the accelerator pedal may stick in the wide open position if the driver applies an angled downward force on the pedal. A stuck accelerator pedal could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Note: As vehicles are equipped with brake override technology, depressing the brake pedal would return the engine to idle. Correction: Dealers will install a revised pedal stopper.
