History/Overview
This is the fourth year of sales for the current generation of Ram’s range of heavy-duty pickup trucks, which was introduced in 2019.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the Ram 2500 gets a new Uconnect 5 infotainment system in some trims; Power Wagon gets an electronic 4x4 transfer case in some configurations; there’s a new 360-degree view system that works with trailers; and there are a variety of cosmetic updates across the lineup.
Available Trims
You can buy a Ram 2500 in Tradesman, Big Horn, Power Wagon, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, and Limited trims. There are regular and crew cab body styles, all powered by a standard gas 6.4L V8 you can upgrade to a 6.7L six-cylinder turbodiesel. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and 4WD is available.
Standard Features
Tradesman comes with 17-inch steel wheels, an LED hitch light, A/C, vinyl floors, a 5.0-inch touchscreen, and, in crew cab models, power locks and windows.
As you move up the Ram 2500’s trims, you’ll add items like a trailer brake controller, locking differentials, 8.4- and 12.0-inch touchscreens, front and rear parking sensors, a 10-speaker sound system, navigation, and blind spot monitoring.
Key Options
A 360-degree camera system is available in most trims, as is a cargo view camera, blind spot monitor, and towing mirrors. You can add a sunroof, and a self-levelling rear suspension.
Ram offers a full suite of driver safety assists, which also comes with adaptive cruise, auto high beams, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Luxury options include ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, a 17-speaker stereo, highway-speed forward collision mitigation, and trailer reverse guidance.
Fuel Economy
Ram doesn’t publish fuel consumption estimates for the 2500 as Natural Resources Canada doesn’t require such ratings for heavy-duty/commercial vehicles.
Competition
The Ram 2500 competes with the Ford F-250, the Chevrolet Silverado 2500, and the GMC Sierra 2500.
