The Ram 2500 is the entry point to this Fiat Chrysler Automobiles brand's line of heavy-duty pickup trucks. It was redesigned into a new generation in 2019.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
For 2020, Ram adds standard and available safety features, including lane keep assist with adaptive steering (optional in all trims), blind spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and trailer tire pressure monitoring.
Crew Cab models with the eight-foot bed get a new 187L fuel tank, and Big Horn and Laramie trims gain a Night Edition option consisting of black exterior styling elements.
Available Trims
Ram sells the 2500 in Tradesman, Big Horn, Power Wagon, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn and Limited trims. Engine options are a 6.4L gas V8, and a 6.7L turbodiesel six-cylinder available in standard and high-output versions. An 8-speed automatic is standard with all engines, and 4WD is optional.
Standard Features
Ram 2500 Tradesman comes with 17-inch steel wheels, a Class V hitch receiver, vinyl upholstery and flooring, a 6-speaker stereo with 5.0-inch infotainment display, black grille/door handles/bumpers, heated/power-adjustable side mirrors, air conditioning, auto on/off headlights, compass/temperature display, cruise control, and a USB charging and media ports.
Big Horn trim brings 18-inch wheels, electronic 4x4 shifting, chrome grille/door handles/bumpers, side mirrors with turn signal repeaters, carpeted flooring, power door locks and windows, cloth seating, an overhead console, and premium door trim.
Power Wagon gets upgraded shocks, underbody shields, a winch, a front disconnecting stabilizer bar, locking differentials, 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, LED fog lights, black exterior trim, clearance lights, two-tone paint, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8.4-inch infotainment screen, a 7.0-inch gauge cluster display, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power-sliding rear window, satellite radio, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a 115-volt power outlet, a mini floor console, and a lighted glove box.
Laramie follows on Big Horn trim with 18-inch aluminum wheels, power-folding side mirrors, LED headlights, LED taillights, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8.4-inch touchscreen and 7.0-inch gauge display, woodgrain dash trim, a 9-speaker stereo, a heated steering wheel, a flat rear load floor in Crew Cab models, power-adjustable front seats, power-adjustable pedals, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Laramie Longhorn adds spotter side mirrors, side steps, LED cargo lighting, a bedliner, chrome exterior trim, premium floor mats, an upgraded console with wood and leather trim, and Sirius XM connectivity features.
Finally, Limited trim brings 20-inch wheels and tires, power running boards, cargo management, a 12-inch touchscreen, Berber floor mats, and wood-trimmed door panels.
Key Options
Options include power pedals (Laramie trim and below); an off-road package; power running boards (Laramie/Laramie Longhorn); a fifth-wheel hitch; rear air suspension; and a sunroof.
Fuel Economy
Natural Resources Canada considers heavy-duty trucks commercial vehicles and does not require fuel consumption estimates.
Competition
The Ram 2500's key competitors are the Ford F-250 Super Duty, GM's Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500, and the Nissan Titan XD.
