NEW FOR 2012: - Black Edition added - Interior colours: Red and Natural Brown discontinued For 2012, the Porsche Boxster adds a new trim line, the Boxster S Black Edition. Limited to 987 vehicles worldwide, it includes a ten-horsepower boost and extra features. The Boxster uses a 2.9-litre horizontally-opposed six-cylinder. The Boxster S and Spyder use a 3.4-litre six-cylinder that makes 310 horsepower in the Boxster S, and 320 in the Black Edition and Spyder. All engines use a six-speed manual transmission or optional seven-speed double-clutch (PDK) automatic transmission. Features on the Boxster include 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, four-piston calipers with ventilated brake discs, anti-theft system, tire pressure monitoring system, water-repellant front windows, electric soft top with manual header latch, rear window defroster, automatically-extendable rear spoiler, front and rear fog lights, foot well lighting, trip computer, auto up/down windows, variable intermittent wipers, heated washer nozzles, keyless entry, garage door opener, cruise control, CD stereo with audio input, Bluetooth connectivity, two-piece rollover protection, heated leather seats with manual height adjuster and electric backrest, leather-wrapped steering wheel, illuminated vanity mirror, and aluminum-look interior accents. The Boxster S adds 18-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers, light grey instrument dials and upgraded stereo. The Black Edition adds 19-inch black-painted Spyder design wheels, monochrome black body, aluminum and stainless interior accents, Sport Design steering wheel, black instrument dials, bi-xenon headlamps with dynamic cornering function, wind deflector, auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, touch-screen navigation system, Bose surround-sound system, XM satellite radio, Porsche crest on the head restraints and limited-edition glove compartment badge. The Spyder builds on the Boxster S and adds 19-inch alloy wheels, “sunsail” top on carbon frame, transparent wind deflector, and lightweight sport bucket seats. To reduce weight, there are several items that are not standard equipment, including air conditioning, stereo, door pockets, storage box or cupholders. Most can be added as options, including regular Boxster seats as a no-charge option.
