History/Overview
Porsche's 911 might have the engine in the wrong place, but its heart has always been in the right one. The classic sports car has been around since the 1960s, continually redesigned and improved to offer one of the best sports car experiences on the market.
What's New
For 2021, there are no major changes, but PDK-auto cars can be fitted with InnoDrive adaptive cruise with speed limit and corner speed following as well as tire temperature readout.
Available Trims
Porsche offers the 911 in Carrera coupe as well as Carrera Cabriolet convertible versions. Those can both be had with quicker S trim and with all-wheel drive. The 4S models offer the S trim with AWD and come in coupe and cabrio, while the Targa 4 has a slide-back roof. Targa 4S gets the 4 and the S treatment. 911 Turbo and Turbo S offer coupe and cabrio with even more powerful engines. 911 GT3 is the track-ready version of the car.
Carrera models have a 385 hp 3.0L twin-turbo flat-six, S boosts this to 450 hp, whilt Turbo models have a 3.8L twin-turbo with 572 hp (640 for S), and GT3 makes 502 hp from a naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six.
Standard Features
Every 911 gets a 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and digital cluster with analogue tachometer. Eight speakers are standard and navigation and Apple CarPlay are included. 19-inch alloys, sports seats, leather, auto climate control, LED lighting, heated front seats and wheel, and embossed leather are standard as is adaptive suspension.
GT3 offers more track-focused performance including a special body kit and large rear wing as well as special suspension, wheels, tires, and brakes.
Key Options
Porsche offers a nearly endless list of options, and if their original choices aren't enough, the automaker's individual department can do even more. Key choices include different wheel styles, dozens of leather interior options including heritage designs, 14 or 18-way sports seats, Bose and Burmester audio systems, and the Sport Chrono package with dynamic engine mounts, Sport Plus drive modes, track app, and Launch Control. Common safety aids including adaptive cruise, surround view, and lane assist are all options.
Fuel Economy
Porsche 911 Fuel economy estimates range from 1.28 L/100 km city, 9.4 highway to 16.0/11.8 for the Turbo S Cabriolet.
Competition
Competition for the 911 comes from the likes of the Aston Martin Vantage, Ferrari F8, Mercedes-AMG GT model, and BMW M8.
