2015 Nissan Titan

NEW FOR 2015:

After 11 years in production, Nissan’s first-generation Titan enters its final year. A brand new model will arrive in showrooms for 2016, refreshed with new technology, increased capabilities, and an available Cummins turbodiesel V8 motor. In the mean time, the Titan carries on effectively unchanged barring slight modifications to trim including new interior door panels, plus the discontinuation of the base King Cab S model. Unusual for a half-ton, 4WD is standard.

Although the Titan offers modern amenities like navigation, and a display audio system with apps, not to mention useful features such as dual 120-volt power outlets, it’s starting to feel long in the tooth. The powertrain configuration is limited to a 5.6-litre V8 engine that develops 317 hp – a figure that rivals’ V6s are closing in on. Its 385 lb-ft of torque is enough to give it a maximum towing capability of up to 9,400 lbs, though. A five-speed automatic is the only transmission.

The Titan is available in King Cab or Crew Cab configuration; the former has a pair of rear-hinged doors that open 168 degrees while the latter has four conventional doors. The King Cab with its 6’7” bed comes in SV and PRO-4X, while the Crew Cab can be had in S, SV, PRO-4X, and SL trim. It is available with either a short 5’7” bed or a longer 7’3” bed.

Features on the S include 18-inch aluminum wheels, body-colour front bumpers, black grille, power windows and door locks, keyless entry, cruise control, AM/FM/CD audio system, front bench seat with fold-down arm rest, air conditioning, tilt steering column, power sliding rear window, rear privacy glass, rear reading lights, 60/40 split flip-up rear bench seat, spray-on bedliner, rear tailgate spoiler, and carpeted flooring. The S trim is exclusively available in short bed Crew Cab form.

The SV trim level adds upgraded tires, chrome grille and bumpers, heavy-duty battery, tow hitch receiver, tow hooks, Utility Track channel system, lockable bedside storage, illuminated tailgate, rear parking sensors, dual 12-volt AC power outlets (one in bed, one in cabin), power heated tow mirrors, power adjustable pedals, centre console with gated shifter, eight-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 5.0-inch display audio system with Nissan Connect mobile apps, reverse camera, Bluetooth, text-messaging assistant, USB port, satellite radio, and an alarm. The SV trim level can be had in King Cab, Crew Cab, and Crew Cab Long Bed body styles.

PRO-4X adds locking rear differential, unique 18-inch wheels, Rancho heavy-duty shocks, skid plates, body-colour bumpers, satin-chrome grille, automatic headlamps, fog lights, 5.8-inch display audio system with navigation, TrafficNav, unique interior trim and gauges, garage door opener, and a Rockford Fosgate audio system. PRO-4X is available in King Cab and Crew Cab with short bed body styles.

The PRO-4X Option Package, offered exclusively on the Crew Cab short bed body style adds power sunroof, garage door opener, PRO-4X embroidered leather upholstered seats, heated front seats, memory function for driver’s seat, exterior mirrors and pedals, four-way power passenger seat, and in-cabin microfilter.

SL builds on the SV with 20-inch chrome-clad wheels, automatic headlamps, fog lights, chrome step rails, power sliding sunroof, 5.8-inch display audio system with navigation, TrafficNav, Rockford Fosgate audio system, dual-zone climate control with in-cabin microfilter, four-way power front passenger seat, leather upholstery, driver’s memory seat, memory mirrors and memory power adjustable pedals, and wood interior trim. The SL is available exclusively in Crew Cab with short bed form.
