History/Overview
Since 2008, the Rogue has underpinned Nissan's line of utility vehicles, serving as its most versatile compact model. Nissan refreshed the Rogue's styling in 2017, and expanded the availability of the ProPilot driver assist system last year.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
New for 2020 is a Special Edition trim that adds some high-value features at the entry-level end of the Rogue lineup.
Available Trims
Nissan sells the Rogue in S, Special Edition, SV and SL Platinum trims. All use a 2.5L four-cylinder engine and continuously variable transmission. S comes only with front-wheel drive. AWD is optional with the Special Edition package and standard in SV and SL Platinum.
Standard Features
Rogue S comes with 17-inch steel wheels with covers, halogen headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, heated side mirrors with power adjustments, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, keyless entry, tilt-and-telescopic steering, cruise control, heated front seats with manual adjustments, cloth upholstery, four-speaker stereo with 7.0-inch touchscreen controls, satellite radio, forward collision warning with emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert with blind spot monitoring, tire pressure monitoring and rear door alert.
The new Rogue Special Edition adds alloy wheels, roof rails, privacy glass, dual-zone automatic climate control, a heated, leather-trimmed steering wheel and leather-trimmed shift lever.
SV trim brings automatic on/off headlights with high beam assist, fog lights, passive keyless entry, remote engine start, six-way power driver's seat, a six-speaker stereo, lane departure warning, intelligent lane intervention, forward pedestrian detection and intelligent cruise control.
Finally, SL Platinum adds 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, hands-free power tailgate, panoramic sunroof, navigation, 360-degree exterior camera views, remote engine start with intelligent climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, power front passenger seat adjustments, leather upholstery, a nine-speaker sound system, moving object detection, rear intelligent braking, rear parking sensors, backup collision intervention and ProPilot assist.
Key Options
An SV Moonroof and Technology package adds a sunroof, navigation, hands-free power liftgate, rear intelligent emergency braking, 18-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, ProPilot assist, steering assist, electric parking brake, heated leather-trimmed steering wheel, leather-trimmed shift lever and rear parking sensors.
SV can also be had just with a sunroof.
SL Platinum's sole option is tan leather upholstery with quilted seat inserts.
Fuel Economy
Nissan's fuel consumption estimates are 9.1/7.1 L/100 km (city/highway) for FWD models, and 9.6/7.5 with AWD.
Competition
The Nissan Rogue competes with a raft of other compact utilities. From Japan come the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Mitsubishi Outlander and Mazda CX-5. Domestic compacts include the Ford Escape, Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain and Dodge Journey. Korea produces the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage, and Germany's Volkswagen makes the Tiguan.
