History/Overview
This is the seventh model year for the Qashqai, a subcompact crossover Nissan rolled out in 2017 to bolster its SUV lineup and appeal to shoppers looking for something smaller than its compact Rogue but larger than the tiny Kicks.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
There are rumours that Nissan may redesign the Qashqai for 2024; regardless of what the future brings, for now, the 2023 model is unchanged.
Available Trims
Nissan offers the Qashqai in S, SV, SL, and SL Platinum trim levels. All are powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The only driveline option is S trim’s choice between front- and all-wheel drive; AWD is standard in SV and SL.
Standard Features
S trim comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, auto on/off headlights, heated side mirrors, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, A/C, basic cruise control, heated front seats, and four-speaker audio.
Qashqai S’s standard safety suite comprises blind spot warning, rear parking sensors, lane departure intervention, forward collision mitigation, rear automatic braking, rear door alert, and automatic high beams.
SV trim adds radar cruise control, ProPilot Assist, roof rails, a sunroof, dual-zone A/C, passive keyless entry, remote engine start, a heated steering wheel, and a six-speaker stereo.
SL’s additions include surround-view cameras, 19-inch wheels, a power driver’s seat, and leather upholstery.
Finally, the SL Platinum package adds LED headlights, fog lights, a power passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and eight-speaker audio.
Fuel Economy
Nissan’s fuel consumption estimates are 8.6/7.3 L/100 km (city/highway) for front-wheel drive models, and 9.0/7.5 L/100 km with AWD.
Competition
The Qashqai is one of the older designs in the subcompact crossover class, but it remains competitive with the likes of the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Toyota Corolla Cross, Mitsubishi RVR, Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade, Kia Seltos, Mazda CX-30, and Buick Encore GX.
