History/Overview
Nissan introduced the Qashqai to Canada in 2017 to fill a space between the compact Rogue and the even smaller Juke (which has since been replaced by the Kicks). The Qashqai enjoyed a mid-cycle refresh in 2020.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, Nissan leaves the Qashqai as-is while it readies a new version that we suspect will arrive as a 2023 model.
Available Trims
This year, Nissan offers the Qashqai in S, SV, and SL trims. Power is from a 2.0L four-cylinder engine, a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and a choice of front- or all-wheel drive.
Standard Features
Qashqai S comes with auto on/off headlights, heated side mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels, A/C, cruise control, heated front seats, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, and a four-speaker stereo.
S trim’s driver safety assists include blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, backup sensors, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and forward collision mitigation.
SV adds adaptive cruise control, ProPilot highway driving assist, a sunroof, dual-zone A/C, passive keyless entry, a heated steering wheel, and a six-speaker stereo.
SL gains surround-view cameras, 19-inch wheels, a power driver’s seat, and leather upholstery.
An SL Platinum package adds LED headlights, fog lights, a power front passenger seat, and eight-speaker audio.
Fuel Economy
Nissan’s fuel consumption estimates for the Qashqai are 8.6/7.3 L/100 km (city/highway) with FWD, and 9.0/7.5 L/100 km with AWD.
Competition
The Qashqai competes against a number of other well-known small crossovers, like the Honda HR-V, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-30, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Buick Encore GX, Toyota Corolla Cross, Subaru Crosstrek, Mitsubishi RVR, Ford Ecosport, and Fiat 500X.
