History/Overview
A 2022 redesign helped the Nissan Pathfinder solidify its position as a popular mid-size crossover with more rugged styling over a platform that combines good ride comfort with useful towing capacity.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2023, Nissan has added a new Rock Creek trim level to the Pathfinder lineup.
Available Trims
The new Rock Creek package slots into the middle of the Pathfinder lineup, with S and SV trims below it and SL and Platinum on top. Regardless of trim, you get a 3.5L V6 engine, a nine-speed transmission, and all-wheel drive.
Standard Features
S trim comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, passive keyless entry, and LED headlights/taillights. Inside, there are heated front seats/steering wheel, a power driver’s seat, three-zone A/C, six-speaker audio, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen.
The Pathfinder’s suite of driver assists includes intelligent cruise control, steering assist, automatic high beams, driver alertness warning, rear parking sensors, forward collision mitigation, blind spot warning/intervention, lane departure warning/prevention, rear cross traffic alert, and rear automatic braking.
SV adds surround-view cameras, front parking sensors, a panoramic roof, hands-free power tailgate, LED fog lights, remote engine start, an auto-dimming mirror, a garage remote, and rear-seat climate controls.
Rock Creek models gain off-road surround view cameras, all-terrain tires, tubular roof rack, and leatherette upholstery.
SL trim brings traffic sign recognition, leather upholstery, an upgraded driver’s seat, power passenger seat adjustments, heated rear seats, wireless phone charging, navigation, and a 9.0-inch touchscreen. An SL Premium option adds a head-up display, 20-inch wheels, and 12-speaker audio.
Finally, Platinum adds rain-sensing wipers, chrome/stainless steel trim elements, quilted leather seating, ambient lighting, power steering wheel adjustments, power-folding side mirrors, digital gauges, ventilated front seats, bronze metallic interior trim, and a front central seat-mounted airbag.
Fuel Economy
Nissan’s fuel consumption estimates are 11.6/9.2 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
The Nissan Pathfinder faces no shortage of competition, which includes the Toyota Highlander, Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, Hyundai Palisade, Subaru Ascent, Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-9, GMC Acadia, Volkswagen Atlas, and Kia Telluride.
