History/Overview
The Pathfinder was Nissan's original SUV model. What started out as a small truck-based utility has grown into a mid-size crossover model with three rows of seating. For 2020, the Pathfinder is carried over with no major changes.
Available Trims
Nissan Pathfinder trim offerings are S, SV Tech, SV Rock Creek, SL Rock Creek, SL Premium, and Platinum. All use a 3.5L V6 engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). AWD is standard across the range.
Standard Features
On the outside, Pathfinder S comes with 18-inch wheels and tires, LED daytime running lights, heated side mirrors, and rear privacy glass.
Inside, S trim gets an advanced drive assist display, an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, Bluetooth, backup sensors, push-button engine start, three-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, front map lights and rear reading lights, tilt-and-telescopic steering, manual front seat adjustments, cloth upholstery, and a six-speaker stereo with satellite radio and CD player.
Pathfinder S safety kit includes a rear door alert, forward collision alert with automatic braking, and tire pressure monitoring with easy-fill alert.
SV Tech trim brings automatic headlights, fog lights, roof rails, NissanConnect services, navigation, passive keyless entry, remote engine start, radar cruise control, variable speed-sensitive front wipers, three 12-volt power outlets, an eight-way power driver's seat with manual lumbar, heated front seats and steering wheel, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift lever, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert.
SV Rock Creek is largely an appearance package that adds black exterior trim elements. Functional additions are a garage door opener, rubber floor mats, metallic interior trim, and high-contrast stitching.
SL Rock Creek adds a hands-free power tailgate, panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, driver's seat memory, and a 12-speaker stereo.
SL Premium's additions are LED low-beam headlights, a tow hitch receiver, tilt-down side mirrors, 360-degree exterior camera views, a garage door opener, a 120-volt power outlet, a four-way power front passenger seat, heated rear seats, and metallic interior trim.
The Platinum package gains 20-inch wheels, chrome exterior trim, power steering column adjustments with memory, ventilated front seats, wood-look interior trim, and a rear-seat entertainment system.
Fuel Economy
Nissan's fuel consumption estimates for the Pathfinder are 12.1/8.9 L/100 km (city/highway) for most trims, and 12.4/9.2 L/100 km in Platinum trim.
Competition
Nissan's Japanese competition includes the Honda Pilot, Toyota's Highlander, the Mazda CX-9, and the Subaru Ascent. From South Korea come the Hyundai Palisade and Kia's Telluride.
Domestic automakers contribute the Chevrolet Traverse, GMC's Acadia, the Ford Explorer, and the Dodge Durango.
Germany supplies just one competitive model in the Volkswagen Atlas.
