For 2007, the Nissan Pathfinder receives minor changes. The front passenger window now has auto up and down; an available auxiliary jack is included in the sound system; a leather package is offered on the SE model; and there is a new exterior colour, Pebble Beach.
The Pathfinder uses an F-Alpha platform with body-on-frame construction, which it shares with the full-size Armada, Xterra and Titan. All models use a 4.0-litre V6 with five-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. All models offer seven-passenger seating, with a 50/50 split third row that can be folded into the floor.
Features on the S include 16-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors, privacy glass, tire pressure monitoring system, air conditioning, power windows, keyless entry, cruise control, variable intermittent wipers, rear wiper, 40/20/40 second-row seating, 50/50 third-row seating, and CD player with six speakers. An optional $700 Airbag Package adds side and curtain airbags.
The SE adds fog lights, roof rack, mud guards, Class IV tow receiver hitch, dual-zone climate control, rear air conditioning with rear controls, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, power-adjustable pedals, first-aid kit, eight-way power driver’s seat, fold-down front passenger seat, and six-CD/MP3 stereo. Side and curtain airbags can be added as part of a Premium or Leather Package.
The LE adds 17-inch alloy wheels, heated leather seats, side and curtain airbags, automatic headlamps, fog lights, garage door opener, four-way power passenger seat, driver’s side memory, and woodgrain accents.
Although it’s an SUV, the Pathfinder offers a comfortable ride, gutsy engine and more agile steering than expected for its size, although it can be a tight fit for long-legged passengers even in the first and second rows, and the third row is strictly for children. Its bold grille bars and bumper treatment echo the company’s bigger SUVs and pickup trucks, and it’s a handsome vehicle even though it’s beefy and brawny. Odd though, that the airbags that can be added to the S must be included in considerably more expensive packages on the SE.
