History/Overview
The NV is Nissan's line of compact cargo vans and full-size commercial passenger vans. The big vans were launched in 2012, and its smaller sibling arrived a year later.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
For 2020, the only changes are to the little cargo van, which gains standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
Available Trims
Nissan offers the compact NV in S and SV trims, and the full-size NV3500 in SV and SL designations. Engines are a 2.0L four-cylinder with a continuously variable automatic transmission in the compact van; a 4.0L V6 and 5-speed automatic for NV3500 SV; and a 5.6L V8 and 7-speed automatic that's optional in NV3500 SV and standard in SL.
Standard Features
The compact NV S comes with 15-inch steel wheels, power side mirrors, sliding side doors, a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with the Apple and Android smartphone systems, air conditioning, dual front map lights, vinyl flooring, power windows, a 12-volt power outlet, cruise control, multi-function trip computer, cloth upholstery, a 2-speaker stereo, and satellite radio.
SV trim adds wheel covers, a body-colour rear bumper, backup sonar, floor-mounted cargo tie-downs, keyless entry, and a second 12-volt power outlet.
NV3500 SV comes with 17-inch steel wheels, power side mirrors, backup sensors, rear privacy glass, a 5.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation, satellite radio, Bluetooth, air conditioning, rear heating/cooling vents, keyless entry, cruise control, tilt steering, cloth seating, an 8-way power driver's seat, and a 6-speaker stereo with satellite radio and USB input.
NV3500 SL adds the V8 engine, a heavy-duty battery, heated and extendable side tow mirrors, fog lights, front tow hooks, front parking sonar, a Class IV tow hitch and wiring connector, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather seating, heated front seats, and a leather-trimmed steering wheel.
Key Options
NV3500 SV can be optioned with the V8 engine, along with the tow mirrors, front tow hooks, and trailer accommodations.
The compact SV cargo van can be had with a rear window with defroster and an interior rearview mirror.
Fuel Economy
Natural Resources Canada classes all NV models as commercial vehicles, which aren't required to undergo fuel consumption testing.
Competition
The compact NV goes up against the Ram Promaster City, Ford's Transit Connect, and the Mercedes-Benz Metris.
The NV 3500 is a competitor for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ford's Transit, the Ram Promaster, and GM's Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana.
