NEW FOR 2014:
- No major changes.
After being introduced to Canadians last year, Nissan?s little NV200 cargo van carries over without any changes. Businesses across Canada have been quick to adopt the little van for its low running costs and affordable price tag, and should you travel to the Big Apple this coming year, you?ll see them in droves as they?ve been pressed into action as the city?s official new taxicab.
Based on the Nissan B-Platform, which is shared with the Versa and other small vehicles, the NV200 is diminutive compared to other commercial vehicles making it a great fit for urban use. It has been optimized to deal with heavy loads with a solid rear axle and commercial-grade suspension. Twenty mounting points, hardboard (wood) panels, and a width that?ll accommodate a 40x48 pallet make it a useful tool indeed. Unlike its key rival, the Ford Transit Connect, the NV200 isn?t offered as a passenger wagon.
The NV200 comes powered by a simple 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that develops 131 hp and 139 lb-ft of torque. It comes paired to a CVT transmission. It?s not the most pleasant or powerful of powertrains around, but it offers owners low operating costs.
The NV200 is offered in two trims: S and SV.
