NEW FOR 2012: - No changes An all-new model for 2011, the Nissan Leaf all-electric vehicle is unchanged for 2012. It is available in limited quantities in select markets. The Leaf uses an 80 kW synchronous electric motor powered by a 24 kW lithium-ion battery. Estimated charging times are 21 hours on 110-volt and eight hours on 220-volt. With a DC fast charge, available as an option on the SL, 80 per cent of battery strength takes 30 minutes. Under ideal conditions, the Leaf has a range of 160 kilometres. A special CARWINGS telematics feature, no-charge for 36 months, allows the operator to remotely monitor the battery, start the charging cycle or turn on the HVAC system through a mobile phone. Trim levels are the SV and SL. Standard features on the SV include 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, speed-sensitive electric power steering, tilt steering column, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, automatic LED headlights, LED taillights, rear spoiler, power mirrors, cloth seats, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, trip computer, CD/MP3 stereo, USB and auxiliary input, XM satellite radio, navigation system, Intelligent Key with pushbutton start, driver’s auto up/down window, illuminated glovebox, auto-dimming rearview mirror, variable intermittent wipers, security system and tire pressure monitoring system. The SL adds photovoltaic solar panel spoiler, fog lights, rearview monitor, garage door opener, and cargo cover.
