The GT-R uses a hand-built 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6, mated to a paddle-shifted six-speed sequential dual-clutch rear transaxle that is mounted at the rear of the vehicle. The transaxle includes hill start assist for easy starts on uphill inclines. Power is transmitted through an electronically-controlled all-wheel drive system specifically developed for the GT-R; it is rear-biased and can vary torque split from 0:100 to 50:50 depending on speed, lateral acceleration, steering angles, tire slip, road surface and yaw rate. The body is hybrid construction, containing steel, die-cast aluminum and carbon fibre.
