NEW FOR 2009:
All-new model
For the first time, the Nissan GT-R is being sold in Canada: the 2009 version is the fifth-generation model of the Japanese supercar. Availability starts June, 2008 but only at specific Nissan dealers in a limited number of major Canadian cities.
The GT-R uses an all-new 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine, producing 480 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, mated to a GR6-type dual-clutch rear transaxle operated by paddle shifts. Each engine is hand-built by a single technician in a special "clean room". The GT-R has a top speed of 310 km/h.
The car is built on a new version of the company's Premium Midship platform and features what Nissan calls the world's first independent rear transaxle all-wheel drive system, which places the transmission, transfer case and final drive at the rear of the vehicle. The body is hybrid construction, containing steel, die-cast aluminum and carbon fibre.
Features include 20-inch wheels, Brembo brakes with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, eleven-speaker Bose sound system with Music Box Hard Drive and XM Satellite Radio, multifunction display, navigation system, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, tire pressure monitoring system, body-colour rear spoiler, Xenon headlamps, LED taillamps, Intelligent Key with pushbutton start, power windows, cruise control, variable intermittent wipers, auto-dimming mirror, and heated power leather seats.
