History/Overview
The largest vehicle in Nissan’s SUV-rich fleet is the Armada, a full-size model with ties to the brand’s pickup trucks, and a luxury-branded model called the Infiniti QX56. The current, second-generation Armada debuted in 2017.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2021, the Armada gets a significant, but mostly cosmetic, refresh that links the big utility to Nissan’s numerous smaller, lighter-duty crossovers.
Available Trims
Nissan offers the Armada in SL and Platinum trim levels. The sole engine is a 5.6L V8, which comes matched with a seven-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.
Standard Features
SL trim comes dressed with 20-inch wheels, auto on/off LED headlights, LED fog lights, heated/auto-dimming side mirrors, a power tailgate, passive keyless entry, and remote engine start.
Inside, you benefit from a sunroof, dual-zone auto A/C, rear-seat A/C, with dedicated controls, a 7.0-inch digital gauge display, power steering wheel adjustments, auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated/power front seats, leather upholstery, heated steering wheel, and wood-tone trim.
Entertainment features include a 13-speaker stereo, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, wireless smartphone charging, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation.
Safety-wise, SL trim gets front and rear parking sensors, surround-view cameras, radar cruise control, forward collision warning with auto braking, lane departure prevention, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, and driver attention and rear door alerts.
Platinum trim adds 22-inch wheels, power-folding side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, a front wiper de-icer, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, quilted leather upholstery, and rear collision intervention.
Fuel Economy
Nissan’s fuel consumption estimates for the Armada are 17.5/12.9 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
With the Armada, Nissan goes up against some formidable domestic competitors in the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Ford Expedition. The only other import model in this class is the Toyota Sequoia.
