History/Overview
The Outlander is Mitsubishi's three-row compact crossover. While this is a large segment, fewer models offer that extra row, and while it isn't for adults on a full-time basis, having the option is excellent on the occasions when you need it but don't want a midsizer the rest of the time. This new model represents the fourth-generation of the popular crossover.
What's New
The Outlander is all-new for 2022, and that means a new platform, new engines, and new driver assistance features. Mitsubishi has dramatically changed the model, giving it more upscale styling and high-grade interiors as well.
Available Trims
The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is offered in ES, LE, SEL, and GT trims. All get super-handling all-wheel drive standard and a 181 hp 2.5L four-cylinder with a CVT.
Standard Features
2022 Outlander starts with ES including 18-inch alloys, Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane departure warning, and 11 airbags. It has LED headlights, USB ports front and rear, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on an 8.0-inch screen. Seven seats and headlamp washers are also standard.
SE adds wireless phone charging, hands-free power liftgate, LED fog lamps, panoramic roof, leather-wrapped heated wheel, fast-key entry, and three-zone climate control.
LE adds Mitsubishi Connect Services and 20-inch alloys as well as embedded navigation on a 9.0-inch screen. It has adaptive cruise control and a 360-view camera.
SEL adds quilted leather seating, mirror and seat position memory, heated rear seats, and a 12.3-inch digital dash display.
GT adds Mi-Pilot Assist radar cruise with stop and go and lane centering, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, and front parking sensors. It has active blind spot assist and a head-up display as well as 10-speaker Bose audio and rear sunshades. A GT Premium pack adds semi-aniline leather seating.
Fuel Economy
Mitsubishi has not yet revealed fuel economy estimates for the 2022 Outlander.
Competition
The Outlander competes with smaller three-row models like the Volkswagen Tiguan and Nissan Rogue. It also fares against two-row same-size crossovers like the Chevrolet Equinox, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Tucson, and Kia Sorento.
