History/Overview
The Mini Countryman is one of the larger Minis, aimed at drivers who want the style with crossover-like stance, all-wheel drive, and a higher seating position. It has four passenger doors and a conventional tailgate, unlike the Clubman, which is more of a Mini Cooper Wagon.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
The Countryman was refreshed for 2021 with a new grille, new lights, and Union Jack LED taillights. Mechanical bits are unchanged.
Available Trims
Mini Countryman is offered exclusively with all-wheel drive, in Cooper, Cooper S, John Cooper Works, and electric Cooper SE models. Cooper means 134 hp, S means 189, and John Cooper Works has 301 hp, with 134 for the plug-in hybrid SE plus 87 from the electric motor. All gas models get an eight-speed automatic (six for PHEV).
Standard Features
Cooper gets heated seats and steering wheel with tilt and telescope adjust as standard. It has an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment and six-way power seats. 16-inch alloys are standard. S adds larger wheels and Sport seats while JCW gets 18-inch alloys, body kit, more aggressive seats, and a mechanical limited slip differential. SE is equipped like the Cooper S, with some hybrid-related extras.
Key Options
Premier on Cooper adds 17-inch wheels, panoramic roof, power trunk, comfort access entry, navigation, Apple CarPlay, digital dash, and front collision warning and lane departure warning. Premier + adds Harman Kardon audio, sport seats, navigation, and a leather wheel. Premier on Cooper S adds the same along with 18-inch wheels while Premier + gets head-up display, Harman Kardon audio, connected navigation, and shift paddles. JCW offers the Premier + plan.
Fuel economy
Cooper Countryman is rated to return 10.0 L/100 km city, 7.4 highway. Cooper S is 10.4/7.5 and JCW 10.0/7.8. Cooper Countryman SE has a 29 km range and 3.2 Le/100 km combined.
