NEW FOR 2014:
- No major changes
For 2014 the Mini Convertible lineup returns effectively unchanged. It is available in Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works trims, with Knightsbridge and Highgate special editions.
The Convertible is available in Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works trim levels. All use a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine paired to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The Cooper’s four-cylinder is naturally aspirated and develops 121 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque. The Cooper S features a turbocharged version of this engine and makes 181 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque (192 lb-ft on overboost), while the John Cooper Works makes 208 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque (207 lb-ft on over boost). Regardless of which motor you pick, the Mini Convertible is open air fun with great steering feel and zippy performance.
Features on the Cooper include roll-over protection system, mirror caps in body colour, chrome exterior door handles, power mirrors, heated rear window, chrome grille, black side air inlets, two-mode automatic convertible roof with sliding sunroof function, chrome tailgate handle, tailgate with low loading sill, door sill finishers with model-related inscription in metal look, gearshift/parking brake in leatherette, leatherette upholstery, sports leather steering wheel, single chrome exhaust outlet, six-way adjustable manual seats, automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel with cruise control, sports leather steering wheel, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, Always Open convertible timer, heated mirrors and washer nozzles, trip computer, one-touch up-and-down side windows, push-button start, auxiliary input, and Bluetooth hands free.
The Knightsbridge trades the usual Mini customizability in exchange for nearly $1,900 worth of savings. Four-hole 16-inch wheels replace the usual six-spoke design, while the Always Open timer and trip computer are deleted. Manual climate control with air conditioning replaces automatic climate control. Colour choices are limited to white, black, and red.
Cooper S adds park distance control, honeycomb radiator grille, chrome 'S' side air inlets, body-colour tailgate handle, sport button, chrome dual exhaust, turbocharged engine, white indicator lenses, heated front seats, sport seats, rain sensor with auto headlamps, and stainless steel pedals and footrest.
The Cooper S Highgate adds 17-inch Double Cross wheels, Silvertouched Brown cloth roof, leather upholstery with blue contrast piping and aluminum-colour contrast stitching, black reflectors, wind deflector, rain sensor with automatic headlights, headlight washers, bi-xenon headlights, rear fog lights, Harman Kardon sound system, chrome exterior and inteior trim, proximity key with push-button start. The Highgate is available in white, black, and Iced Chocolate – a Highgate Exclusive. Brown and Blue hood stripes are included.
John Cooper Works adds electronic differential locking control, John Cooper Works Aerodynamic Kit, chrome side air inlets, piano black interior trim, central exhaust outlet, bi-xenon headlights, and auto dimming interior mirror.
