The V12-powered SL600 and SL65 AMG models are discontinued, while the SL550 and SL63 AMG come only as standard Avantgarde trim editions. There is also an available SL550 Grand Edition, which commemorates the last special edition for the R230 SL-Class and is limited to 35 units. The SL-Class is available as the SL550, with 5.5-litre V8 and seven-speed automatic transmission, and as the SL63 AMG, with 6.2-litre V8 and seven-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. Both include a fully automatic retractable hardtop roof. Features on the SL550 include 19-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control with Airscarf heater, active body control, COMAND APS with navigation system, voice control, DVD changer and Music Register, Harman/Kardon Logic7 surround sound system, iPod and USB connections, Sirius satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, AMG front and rear aprons, active bi-xenon headlamps with washers and cornering lights, power-folding mirrors with integrated turn signals, rain-sensing wipers, heated washers, heated and ventilated perforated leather seats with massage, power-adjustable three-spoke leather and wood multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles, panoramic vario-roof, auto-dimming rearview and driver’s side mirrors, auto up/down windows, fabric windscreen, rear luggage belts, Parktronic and Distronic sensors, Keyless Go, power-operated trunk closure, garage door opener, first-aid kit, TeleAid emergency calling system, and tire pressure monitoring system. The SL63 AMG adds 19-inch forged alloy wheels, limited-slip rear differential, Nappa leather upholstery, Alcantara roof liner, and AMG performance steering wheel. The SL550 Grand Edition builds on the SL550 and adds bi-colour 19-inch alloy wheels, AMG grille, SL600-style exhaust tips, aluminum-framed wind blocker, clear headlights and taillights, matte silver exterior trim, Nappa leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter cover, and prism pattern aluminum trim.
