2008 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class

NEW FOR 2008:

Redesigned for 2007, the four SL-Class models receive new standard and optional features for 2008.

Each model has a specific driveline: a 5.5-litre V8 in the SL550; bi-turbo 5.5-litre V12 in the SL600; supercharged 5.5-litre V8 in the SL55 AMG; and bi-turbo 6.0-litre V12 in the SL65 AMG. The SL550 uses a seven-speed automatic; all other models use a five-speed automatic that includes Speedshift on the AMG versions.

Features on the SL550 include 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, six-CD Bose surround-sound stereo system with SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Burl Walnut wood trim, COMAND APS with navigation, cruise control, electronic parking brake, integrated garage door opener, leather and Burl Walnut multifunction steering wheel, multi-contour seats with three-position memory and massage function, one-touch express up and down windows, power tilt and telescopic column with three-position memory, rear luggage belts, TeleAid emergency calling system, windscreen, active body control, anti-theft system with tow-away protecting, auto-dimming mirrors, bi-Xenon headlamps with washers and cornering lights, power-folding heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, parameter steering, Parktronic parking assist, remote trunk release with power-assisted closure, SmartKey, tinted glass, tire pressure monitoring system and rain-sensing wipers with heated washers.

The SL600 adds Alcantara roof liner, easy-entry wheel, and panoramic Vario-Roof.

The SL55 AMG is equipped similarly to the SL550, but adds 19-inch AMG wheels and has heated seats.

The SL65 AMG adds carbon fibre trim, multi-contour seats with three-position memory and massage, and panoramic Vario-Roof.

All SL-Class models come with a metal top that folds automatically, storing itself under a hard tonneau cover at the touch of a button. Roof up or down, an extremely rigid chassis gives this roadster superb handling characteristics and body integrity. All models are luxuriously appointed, but the new standard panoramic glass roof on the SL600 and SL65 models make it even better.
