NEW FOR 2015:
-S 400, S 600 and S 65 AMG models added
-Touchpad standard in all models
-Head-up display and heated windshield standard in S 600, S 63 AMG and S 65 AMG, optional in S 400 and S 550
The big S-Class gains three trims for 2015. A new S 400 model slides in below the S 550, powered by an all-new turbocharged 3.0L V6 making 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. That S 550 carries over in short- and long-wheelbase versions with its 4.6L turbocharged V8, which generates 449 hp and 516 lb-ft. New to the line is the S 600, motivated by a turbocharged 6.0L V12 generating 523 hp and 612 lb-ft. The other carry-over is the S 63 AMG, which uses a turbocharged 5.5L V8 capable of 577 hp and 664 lb-ft, and finally, the third new trim is the S 65 AMG, with a hilariously powerful 6.0L turbocharged V12 good for 621 hp and 737 lb-ft.
S 400, S 550, and S 63 AMG use Benz's 4MATIC all-wheel system, while the S 600 and S 65 AMG are rear-drivers. Seven-speed automatic transmissions are standard across the board: non-AMG cars get a traditional auto, while the AMG-tuned models share a dual-clutch gearbox.
