NEW FOR 2012: - R350 4MATIC adds new direct-injection 3.5-litre V6, revised transmission programming - Revised rearview camera lens and ESP Off icon design - Standard COMAND navigation - Revised option packages - Exterior colours: Citrine Brown Metallic and Pearl Beige Metallic added; Chromite Black Metallic discontinued For 2012, the Mercedes-Benz R-Class adds a new gasoline engine, replacing the previous 3.5-litre V6 in the R350 4MATIC with a direct-injection V6, and revising the transmission for improved fuel economy. Both the R350 BlueTEC 4MATIC and R350 4MATIC receive a standard navigation system. Option changes include a new rearview camera and Harman/Kardon Logic7 surround sound system added to the Premium Package; and Airmatic with adaptive damping system and 20-inch AMG five-spoke wheels in the Sport Package. New packages include a Leather Package of leather upholstery, luxury front and rear headrests and interior lighting package; and a Premium Rear Seating Package of rear side roller blinds and Thermotronic three-zone automatic climate control. The R-Class is available as the R350 BlueTEC 4MATIC, with 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine, and as the R350 4MATIC, with 3.5-litre V6. Both use a seven-speed automatic transmission and are all-wheel drive. Both models are equipped similarly, and include 19-inch alloy wheels, Thermatic automatic climate control, rear air suspension, COMAND with six-disc DVD changer, single SD card slot and auxiliary input, navigation system, electronic compass, Bluetooth connectivity, Sirius satellite radio, AMG styling package of front and rear aprons and side skirts, active bi-xenon headlamps with washers and cornering lights, power-folding mirrors, two-stage rain-sensing wipers, heated washers, blue-tinted privacy glass, power-adjustable heated Artico leather upholstery, memory seats, heated leather-wrapped multifunction power tilt and telescopic steering wheel, high-gloss Burl Walnut wood trim, cargo cover, power pop-out third-row windows, third seat for second row, power sunroof, auto-dimming rearview and driver’s side mirrors, garage door opener, Parktronic parking system, Smart Key keyless entry, anti-theft alarm system, and tire pressure loss warning system.
