History/Overview
The GLC is Mercedes-Benz’s entry in the competitive compact luxury crossover class, a segment that has become a popular alternative to more traditional upscale sedans. Benz introduced the GLC in 2016 as a replacement for the GLK; the GLC was updated in 2021.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For the second year in a row, the GLC carries over with no changes.
Available Trims
Mercedes-Benz sells the GLC as a traditional SUV and in a sleeker coupe body style. Both start as the GLC 300, with a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine, while the speedier AMG GLC 43 gets a twin-turbo 3.0L V6. Gone this year is the V8-powered AMG GLC 63.
Both of the 2022 GLC’s engines are standard with a nine-speed transmission and all-wheel drive.
Standard Features
The GLC 300 comes with 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, heated/power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone A/C, power-folding side mirrors, a 7.0-inch infotainment display, and blind spot monitoring.
AMG GLC 43 trim gains performance brake and exhaust systems and a sport-tuned air transmission, 20-inch wheels, Nappa leather steering wheel, an AMG body kit, a panoramic roof, tire pressure monitoring, ambient lighting, lighted door sills, artico and dinamica upholstery, AMG gauges, and a race timer.
Key Options
A tech package brings automatic high beams, and digital gauges. The GLC 300’s sport pack gets an AMG-style body kit.
A premium package adds a larger touchscreen, navigation, passive keyless entry, a power tailgate, wireless phone charging, and traffic sign recognition.
The premium plus pack brings a garage door remote, active park assist, 360-degree cameras, and a hands-free tailgate.
The intelligent drive package includes Mercedes’ full suite of driver safety assists.
Fuel Economy
Mercedes-Benz’s fuel consumption estimates for the GLC 300 SUV are 11.5/9.1 L/100 km (city/highway), and the Coupe version is rated for 11.5/8.5 L/100 km.
AMG GLC 43 ratings start at 12.9/9.3 L/100 km for the SUV, and 14.0/10.1 L/100 km for the coupe.
