Mercedes-Benz's smallest crossover, the GLA-Class, gets minor updates that echo those of the CLA-Class sedan that shares the same architecture.
Mechanically, the AMG GLA45 model gains 20 hp and 18 lb-ft of torque from its 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, for totals of 375 and 350.
All models get keyless start and the dynamic select drive mode selector as standard, along with a manual front seat cushion extender, a new steering wheel and the latest generation of Benz's telematics system.
Both the GLA250 and GLA45 use a 2.0L turbo four, but the GLA250's is tuned for a more modest 208 hp and 258 lb-ft. Also shared is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, though the AMG version's is built to better stand up to the engine's extra power. 4MATIC all-wheel drive is standard across the board.
Fuel consumption estimates are 9.8/7.4 L/100 km (city/highway) for the GLA250, and 10.3/8.1 for the GLA45.
Standard kit in the GLA250 includes eco start/stop, a raised suspension, electromechanical power steering, electric parking brake, 18-inch wheels, heated side mirrors, "artico" leather upholstery, air conditioning, 12-way power front seats with memory, Nappa leather-trimmed steering wheel, split-folding rear seats, keyless start, dynamic select, attention assist, collision prevent assist plus, adaptive brake with hold function, rain-sensing wipers and run-flat tires.
The GLA45 adds 19-inch wheels, upgraded cooling system and brakes, sport suspension, exhaust and steering, AMG exterior styling, bi-xenon headlights, artico/dinamica upholstery and a flat-bottom steering wheel.
Starting prices are $38,000 for the GLA250 and $51,700 for the GLA45.
