Mercedes-Benz brought an all-new C-Class to market for 2015. The Coupe returned from a year off in 2017, and the Cabriolet joined the lineup again as well. This year, the wagon is back in the lineup too.
The new C got styling that made it look like its big brothers, the E and S-classes. The more pedestrian C-classes are the choice for drivers who want something more luxurious than an Audi A4 or BMW 3 series, but the two AMG models are for drivers who want performance that everyone around them is aware of.
For 2018, Mercedes is replacing the seven-speed automatic with a new nine-speed model. Other small changes include new wheel choices, and a heated steering wheel is now on the option sheet.
The C-Class sedan, coupe, and Cabrio are available as the C 300, the AMG C 43, the AMG C 63, and the AMG C 63 S. The C-wagon comes only in C 300 guide. All C 300 models use a 2.0L turbo four that makes 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. They also have 4Matic all-wheel drive. AMG 43 cars get a 3.0L biturbo V6 that has 362 hp and 384 lb-ft. Those ones have 4Matic as well. The 63 models get an exquisite 4.0L twin-turbo AMG V8 that makes 469 hp and 479 lb-ft. Check the S box and get that engine boosted to 503 hp and 516 lb-ft. The V8 cars are all rear-drive only.
To get navigation and keyless go on C 300 models, you'll need to add the Premium package. It also adds a panoramic roof and LED headlights. The Sport pack gives 18-inch wheels, bigger brakes, and an AMG body kit. The Night package does the same but has gloss black trim. The intelligent drive package adds active safety features like steering assist, radar cruise, brake assist, and blind spot alerts. A Burmester sound system is a stand-alone option.
On AMG models, the Premium pack comes with the same features as on the C 300, but adds a power close trunk, surround view camera, and the Burmester stereo. The intelligent drive pack is also available. AMG performance front seats are an option, as well as carbon mirror covers. On the top C 63 S, AMG carbon ceramic brakes are available.
The C 300 sedan is rated at 10.5 L/100 km city, 7.5 highway. The C 43 is rated at 11.8/8.8, and the C 63 and C 63 S are rated at 13.4/9.6. The figures for other body styles should be similar.
