Mercedes-Benz's best-selling model is all-new for 2015, with styling that adopts cues seen on other recent Benz designs, and a new interior the automaker says is roomier than before.
Three new turbocharged engines are available in four variants. The line starts with the C300 4MATIC, powered by a 2.0L, turbocharged four-cylinder gasser making 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. Next up is the C 400, using a twin-turbo V6 good for 329 hp and 354 lb-ft. Serious straight-line speed comes in the form of two AMG-tuned models, the C 63 and C 63 S. Both use a two-turbo, 4.0L V8 tuned for 469 hp and 479 lb-ft in the C 63, and 503 hp/516 lb-ft in the C 63 S.
C 300/400 models come standard with Benz's 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, and AMG C 63 versions are rear-drive. All cars use seven-speed automatic transmissions: C 300/400 cars get a traditional torque converter-based gearbox, and AMG cars use a variant of it called SpeedShift MCT, which trades the torque converter for an automatic clutch. Fun fact: in all C-Class cars, the transmission has two reverse gear ratios.
Standard kit in C 300 models includes engine auto start/stop, 17-inch alloy wheels, electric parking brake, heated side mirrors with electric adjustment, seven-inch audio control screen, ?artico? leather upholstery, automatic climate control, 16-way power driver's seat with memory, 14-way power front passenger seat, Nappa leather steering wheel, split-folding rear seats, keyless start, attention assist, collision prevention assist plus, pre-safe, blind spot assist, seven airbags including driver's knee blocker, adaptive brake with hold function, and rain-sensing wipers.
C 400 trim adds 18-inch wheels, AMG exterior styling and LED headlights.
C 63 models come with AMG-specific 18-inch wheels, AMG exterior styling, spoiler lip and sports exhaust, upgraded brakes, AMG ride control suspension, stereo touchpad control, satellite radio, artico/dinamica upholstery, AMG steering wheel and gauge cluster, and acceleration skid control.
C 63 S trim adds 19-inch wheels, active LED headlights, and a backup camera.
