Although its styling is similar to that of the CX-7, it is a separate vehicle that uses a platform derived from the Mazda6. It uses a 3.7-litre V6 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. The GS trim comes in front- or all-wheel drive, while the GT is all-wheel only. The system runs primarily in front-wheel but transfers power to the rear wheels when needed. All models have three rows of seats. Features on the GS include 18-inch alloy wheels, three-zone climate control, tire pressure monitoring system, automatic headlamps, heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, intermittent rear wiper, rear privacy glass, cruise control, keyless entry, power windows, auto-dimming rearview mirror, garage door opener, piano black interior trim, heated cloth seats, eight-way power driver’s adjustment, 60/40 split-folding second-row seat, 50/50 split-folding third-row seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, electroluminescent gauges, floor mats, trip computer, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input, Bluetooth connectivity, and towing package. The GT adds 20-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlamps with manual levelling, fog lights, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, blind spot monitoring system, intelligent key system with pushbutton start, wood finish interior trim, four-way power passenger seat, driver’s side memory, leather upholstery, six-CD/MP3 Bose stereo, Bluetooth with Audio Profile, Sirius satellite radio, and audio display screen. The GS AWD can be optioned with a Luxury Package that adds leather-trimmed upholstery, power sunroof, four-way power passenger seat and power driver’s lumbar support. The GT can be optioned with a Nav Package that adds a navigation system and power tailgate, and further with a Rear Entertainment System that deletes the sunroof and adds a rear-seat entertainment system, an additional speaker and a 115-volt power outlet.
